Electrical Face & Body Treatments – Contra-indications
Contra-indications to electrical face and body treatments include:
- Skin diseases/disorders, hyper-sensitive skin
- Bruising, swelling, acute inflammation
- Avoid any areas with warts, cuts or abrasions
- Recent operations in the concerned areas
- Recent fractures of the concerned areas
- Epilepsy (if not on medication)
- Recent scar tissue
- Tumours or unrecognised lumps
- Neuritis/neuralgia
- Haemophilia
- Any viral infection e.g. flu, lymphatic disorder, eye infections e.g. conjunctivitis, cold sores
- Pacemakers, metal plates/pins in the immediate area for treatment
- Severe asthmatic conditions
- Pregnancy
Diamond Microdermabrasion – Contra-indications
Contra indications that prevent treatment
- Neuro dermatitis (full body dermatitis)
- Psoriasis or a history of psoriasis
- Orally administered steroid medication e.g. Roaccutane for 6 months during and after the medication treatment. Then skin must be treated very gently as a sensitive steroids thin and sensitise the skin tissues
Contraindications restrictive
- Eczema
- Botox – Treatment can only be given after 8 to 12 weeks following Botox treatment due to this risk and depending on skin response to Botox
- Dermal fillers – Treatment can be given 8-12 weeks following treatment depending on skin response
- Glycolic peels – Wait 3 months following peels as this thins the skin
- Chemical peels – Cannot have Diamond Microdermabrasion
- Avoid products with retinol, AHAs, BHAs, Vitamin A derivatives, salicylic and glycolic acids during microdermabrasion treatments and at home during course of treatment
