Angela

Angela is a highly experienced Beauty, Electrolysist and Complementary Therapist who has worked in the beauty industry for the last 46years.

During November 2022 Federation of Holistic Therapists, the professional body for therapists in the UK, held its Excellence Awards in recognition of outstanding achievement in the industry.

The winner of FHT Excellence Awards for Beauty Therapist of the Year 2022 Excellence Awards was Angela who won for her work in the field of Electrical facials, electrolysis, and Advanced Blemish removal treatments, all of which help to improve the appearance and self-esteem of men and women.

Angela who had previously won this prestigious award in 2016 for her Electrolysis NHS work said “to win a second time is utterly amazing and a great honour and privilege. It shows that hard work dedication and continuous professional development /training pays off long term.” To win a National Award a second time is a major achievement, and very rare it is a testament to Angela’s experience, knowledge, and professionalism in her work.

In October 2016 Angela’s work with electrolysis and transgender patients was recognised when she won, FHT Excellence Awards for Beauty Therapist of the Year at a National Awards ceremony . Organised by the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT), the event was held on Wednesday, 26 October at One Whitehall Place, London, to bring much deserved recognition to high-calibre practitioners, students and tutors working in the complementary, sports and holistic beauty industries. Paul Battersby, President of the FHT, says: These awards are designed to recognise individuals and businesses that are excelling in therapy practice and education. Winners like Angela should be exceptionally proud to be selected from a pool of high-calibre peers, in a ceremony that is recognised across the industry. Well, done.’

Angela felt honoured to have held the title of National Beauty Therapist of the year 2016 bestowed on her by the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) which is the largest and leading professional association for therapists in the UK and Ireland.

Established more than 60 years ago, the organisation is overseen by a Governing Council, who represent the three-core member sectors; complementary, beauty and sports therapies. The FHT is a not-for-profit organisation, reinvesting for the benefit of the members and the industry, and works to uphold industry standards for education and professional practice.

Angela was delighted to also be awarded the enhanced status of Fellow of the Federation of Holistic Therapists it is wonderful to have your work recognised for highest standards of expertise achievement and success.

Angela has always believed in continuously updating her skills and annually takes refresher courses or new national Courses to maintain her skills has enabled her to remain at the top of her profession.

Angela’s extensive depth and breadth of knowledge and experience has enabled her to undertake a variety of roles within the beauty industry which includes working as a therapist, salon manager, College Lecturer, industry trainer, author, assessor, and examiner both in the private and public sectors. Angela has also worked as a consultant for City and Guilds for many years in beauty therapy and for Sterex International on a part time basis.

Until July 2007 Angela ran a successful beauty and complementary therapies department comprising of 5 salons and 20 staff at West Kent College F.E. College, Tonbridge, Kent, where she developed the department’s reputation for offering high quality training and helped to establish its position as one of the top Colleges in the Southeast of England at the time.

In 2000 Angela was commissioned by Hodder and Stoughton to write a text book on electrolysis which was subsequently published called The Complete Guide to Electro-Epilation, she has also been a contributing author in a beauty text book, plus author of numerous articles published in professional trade magazines, e.g. the probe, PMFA, Kings Hill Directory etc From 2002-2004 Angela was also the beauty expert on Radio Kent between appearing monthly on the Julie Maddox show. In June 2015 Angela also appeared in the Channel 5 Television documentary Kellie Maloney no turning back show casing her electrolysis skills.

Angela has since 2008 used her experience and knowledge of the industry to run her own beauty business offering high quality service, she also between August 2008-September 2018 ran a successful VTCT training academy offering a range of both beauty and complementary therapies training courses. Angela also still works as a consultant teacher and examiner with the Electrolysis professional body The British Institute Association of Electrolysis and is an active board member of the British Institute and Association of Electrolysis as well as a former Chairperson (2012-2015).

Angela specialises in Electrical facials, Electrolysis, and advanced Electrolysis, (she holds a level 4 qualification for Advanced electrolysis and a level 5 qualification for Advanced Blemish Removal ), it has been her passion to help people alike who suffer with unsightly, unwanted facial and body hair. Angela states that electrolysis has a positive effect on the lives of her clients and NHs patients improving the quality of individuals lives on both a physical and emotional level, especially for people who seek a permanent solution to unwanted facial and body hair that blights their lives. Electrolysis is the only proven method of permanent hair removal, helping clients to eradicate their unsightly facial and body hair when following a course of treatment. Using the latest computerised technology from America the Elite Spectrum machine, treatment can be tailored to each client’s skin and hair type, and comfort level using a variety of modalities. Angela can treat any area of the body, and any hair or skin colour or type with electrolysis.

Angela is also an NHS service provider for NHS patients eligible for electrolysis treatment. She provides Advanced electrolysis and Blemish removal treatments treating a range of up to 20 unsightly skin blemishes from skin tags, keratosis, warts, Xanthelasma etc

Angela states “I am in the fortunate position of having experienced many areas of good practice both in F.E. training Colleges and salons, on which to base my business practice. Gemini Beauty aims to make each client feel that they have had their treatment expectations exceeded and that clients will wish to return to spend time with me, having either repeat or new treatments time after time. Service in this country is generally poor compared to abroad and I aim to offer premium quality and service at an affordable price using high quality products.”

During spring of 2020 Angela undertook Covid 19 online training with a variety of training providers including World Health Organisation and VTCT as part of her CPD during lock down. Annually Angela undertakes training with myskindoctor.co.uk/skcin for training in a variety of skin cancers she currently holds Masced pro+ qualification as well as other industry related training to keep her knowledge and skills up to date.
